I just finished calling my kids to remind them, Sunday is Mother’s Day. I mean, I hate to see a person caught off guard. I can only imagine how bad I would feel if I forgot Mother’s Day, cause I never did. My kids are always glad for the reminder.
Some people call Mother’s Day a “fake holiday,” a “Hallmark Holiday,” made up to sell greeting cards and flowers and candy. I think it’s a nice idea, I don’t care the motivation. As far as I’m concerned, every other day is Mother’s Day, the days in between reserved for Father. As far as I’m concerned, there should be “Sons Day,” and “Daughters Day,” but whatever.
I like having a family, I think of myself as a mom before anything else. That is a big umbrella, covers a lot of territory. For example, when I go to those dumb meetings Downtown, I always feel I have to do it for my kids. I don’t care how corny that sounds.
